Comet Sound
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Comet Sound collects and uses personal data when you visit this website, create an account, buy our products or contact us. It is provided under Articles 13 and 14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who we are
The data controller is DZ Audio S.R.L.S., Via alle Fabbriche 183, 10072 Caselle Torinese (TO), Italy — VAT / tax code 13486850012, operating the Comet Sound brand and this website.
For any privacy request you can write to info@cometsound.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: name, email address and a hashed password, when you register an account (an account is required to purchase).
- Order and billing data: the billing details you enter at checkout, your order history and the invoices we issue.
- Messages: the name, email address, subject and message you send through the Contact or Support forms.
- Technical data: the server that hosts this website keeps standard access logs (IP address, request time, browser type) for security and troubleshooting.
- Payment data: card and payment details are collected and processed only by our payment providers (Stripe and PayPal). They never reach or get stored on this website.
3. Why we process your data
- To provide your account, deliver purchased licenses and downloads, and manage subscriptions — legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To issue invoices and meet tax and accounting obligations — legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
- To answer messages sent through the Contact and Support forms — legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To keep the website secure and prevent abuse — legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not send marketing emails without your consent, we do not profile you, and we never sell your personal data.
4. Who receives your data
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), which delivers our transactional and support email.
- Stripe and PayPal, which process payments when you buy from us.
- Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics 4), which provides us with aggregated statistics about how the site is used — only if you consent via the cookie banner.
- Professionals and authorities where the law requires it (for example our accountant and the tax authorities, for invoicing data).
These providers act as data processors or independent controllers for their own services. We share only the data each service needs.
5. International transfers
Some providers (such as Google, Stripe and PayPal) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer relies on an EU adequacy decision (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep your data
- Order and invoicing data: 10 years, as required by Italian tax law.
- Account data: for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.
- Contact and Support messages: the copy archived on the website is deleted after 14 days; the email copy is kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
- Server logs: for the short period set by our hosting provider for security purposes.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us at any time for access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to info@cometsound.com and we will reply within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority of your country of residence.
8. Cookies
This website uses technical cookies, which are strictly necessary for the site to work, and — only with your prior consent — statistics cookies (Google Analytics 4).
Technical cookies (no consent required):
- WooCommerce session cookies: they remember your cart and keep your checkout session active.
- Language preference cookie: it remembers whether you browse the site in English or Italian.
- Login cookies: they keep you signed in to your account.
- Consent cookies: they store the choices you make in the cookie banner.
Statistics cookies (set only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner): we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). IP addresses are anonymized by design and we have disabled data sharing with other Google services. Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode: if you do not accept, no analytics cookies are set and no data about your visit is collected.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the “Manage consent” tab visible on every page. For the full and always up-to-date list of cookies, see our Cookie Policy.
9. Our software
Comet Sound plugins, including Comet Sound AI, process your audio locally on your device: your audio is never uploaded to our servers. License activation and update checks may exchange your license key and basic technical information with our systems, solely to verify the license and deliver updates.
10. Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored hashed, and payment data is handled exclusively by PCI-DSS certified payment providers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website, our products or the law change. The date at the top always indicates the current version. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
