OR-70 Is Out — A Free Layer Processor Plugin

OR-70 is out, and it is free. It is a creative layer processor for macOS and Windows — VST3 and Audio Unit — with no licence key, no trial and no expiry. Install it and it is yours.

A sound goes in, an organism comes out

Feed OR-70 a pad, a voice or a loop and it rebuilds the source in spectral, rhythmic and harmonic layers: a ghost of the sound, a cloud of grains, echoes locked to the tempo, a shifted shimmer. Then you blend them back in.

All of it moves with one gesture. MORPH goes from 0, the source, to 1, the organism, and drives density, blur, feedback and shimmer together. Automate it and a static part becomes a build-up, a transition or a texture you did not have before.

Eight modules around one core

On one side GHOST and GRAIN add a spectral layer and its grain density, HALF replays the sound at half speed in sync with the bar, and DRIVE saturates with tone. On the other, ORBIT adds echoes synced to the tempo from 1/32 to two bars, SHIFT transposes the layer by whole semitones with shimmer, CHORUS adds three voices and FLANGE brings feedback. MIX blends dry and wet at constant power.

The shape at the centre of the interface reacts to every move: each module pulls it toward a different solid, so you can see where the sound is going.

Freeze the moment

FREEZE holds the material of the effect until you release it; HOLD freezes it only while you keep it pressed. Catch the right instant of a pad or a vocal and play over it. MUTATE generates a new variation of the inner movement, A/B compares two states, and BYPASS fades out smoothly.

Forty-eight factory presets cover texture, wide, dark, rhythm, dream, glitch, cinema and vocal sounds. The quickest way in is the INIT set — INIT SOURCE is almost dry, INIT ORGANISM is balanced, INIT FULL is a full transformation — and then moving only MORPH.

How to get the free plugin

Open the OR-70 page or the shop and choose Get It Free. Enter your email and we send you the download links for macOS and Windows right away, no account and no checkout — a package signed and notarised by Apple on the Mac, a signed installer on Windows.

OR-70 is a separate free plugin outside Orbit Suite, and you do not need a plan to use it. If it opens a new door in your sessions, the six plugins of Orbit Suite are built on the same idea: one job each, done in a way you can read.
